NYC Guide: 48 Hours In New York

Ahhhh! I shot my very first commercial ever in New York City last year and it was THE coolest experience ever! It was so freaking fun and I am forever grateful for Palmers for trusting me with the opportunity! We flew in on Monday and the shoot was on Wednesday so we spent Tuesday and Thursday exploring the city! We’ve only been to NYC one time before and it was super overwhelming so we were a little hesitant on how it was going to be but this time was a completely different experience and we had the best time! We kinda winged it all while taking a ton of the recommendations we got from you on Insta! I put it all together in a short little 48 hour guide to NYC! Plus a little BTS of the coolest day ever shooting the commercial!

Freakin’ Bruce sleeping on the job!

Krista Horon commercial shoot

We stayed at the Andaz and it was perfection!

The room was huge which you don’t always find in New York! It was SO nice and comfortable AND it has a heated toilet seat 🙌🏻. The location was really great too!

The first night we got in pretty late so we just got food delivered and crashed! We got Bravo Pizza…it was our first pizza we’ve ever had in New York and I know pizza is a big deal around there so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It wasn’t bad. But it also wasn’t the greatest. I think it depends on who you ask but I know there’s a ton of good pizza places to choose from.

Things to do in New York

Tuesday we woke up and went to ‘Top Of The Rock’ which I HIGHLY recommend - the views are insane and it’s just so crazy and cool to see all the city that high up. We spent a ton of time looking at the views and taking pics!

Next, we headed to Central Park and took a bike caddy around the entire park - we had such a good caddy and he was so knowledgeable on all the cool spots and history behind it all AND he kept offering to take ALL the pics which you know I loved! He was the best and I am hiring him as a photog next time we are in town 🤪.

The bike caddy dropped us off at dinner at Del Frescos. We ate there the first time we went to New York too and it was one of our favs! I got steak and Bryce got fish. SO good!

After that we did some shopping in Rockefeller Center which is really fun to walk around!

Wednesday was shoot day!

So basically we got up, went to location, got hair & makeup done, picked out outfits for the commercial and got to shooting! I didn’t think I was nervous until I started reading lines and then holy moly, my stomach was in knots! Haha! It’s way harder than it looks! They had food catered there but you know me and my pickiness so thankfully Chick-fil-A was just a Door Dash away! I scarfed down those nuggets so fast 😂. We were there from like 8 am till 6 pm.

So then for dinner that night, we just walked around the corner from our hotel to this place called Benjamin’s Steakhouse…it was pretty awful! Haha! Literally nothing was good about it.

Indoor Activities

Thursday was so fun! It was a rainy day so we had to make sure we did everything indoors! You can buy tickets for Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum together with Ripley’s Believe it or Not so it was simple and we had never been! The Wax Museum is INSANE! They look so real, it almost feels like you’re actually meeting them in real life! SO cool! We got to hang with some of our favs you know, Kim K, JB, Ursher and Tay Tay. NBD.

9/11 memorial at the Wax Museum

The 9/11 memorial at the Wax Museum was really cool too!

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not had so many interesting things! So many cool (and gross) things we never knew!!!

And of course we had to try Shake shack buuut we were not fans. It was just meh…In-N-Out is way better!! Are you team Shake Shack or In-N-Out?

After that, we hit up the Museum of Sex, naturally 😂. It was reeeeal interesting and again, had the craziest facts…I will leave the rest to your imagination. Safe to say, I would NOT take the kids here. Haha!

For dinner Thursday night, we went to Tony’s Di Napoli because I wanted Italian food! Not super fancy but it was really good!

The restaurant was right next to Times Square so we walked out there for a quick minute (cuz it was raining) to snap a pic! It’s seriously so cool with all the lights!

Here’s some other spots we went to the first time we were in New York! Highly recommend all of these:

9/11 memorial & museum

SO powerful and beautifully done, highly recommend visiting when you are in town.

The High Line (walking trail)

This is in the Meat Packing District which is what it used to be and now it’s designed super cool with really great designers and the High Line lets you walk above it all! Super cool!

Broadway (Mean Girls)

SO MUCH FUN! Like a once in a lifetime experience you have to do. I am sure all the plays are incredible, I mean it’s Broadway but Mean Girls was awesome! Definitely want to see another one on our next trip! Next commercial ;)

Empire State Building

A classic! It’s worth the lines because it is iconic New York and the views are awesome!

Beauty & Essex

The coolest lounge / bar / restaurant - next time I am going back and totally getting a Malibu & Diet.

This second trip was so much better than the first! I think since Covid, it has slowed down a lot now which made it way less crowded & overwhelming. I kinda felt claustrophobic the first time! I’m so glad we got to go again and really enjoy it and soak it all in! Definitely want to go back again sometime and explore more!

And here’s the finished commercial! Still cracks me up every time I watch it but I am seriously so thankful and it will be an experience I will never ever forget!
xoxo
