Our Family Trip from Bakersfield to Pismo Beach, California

A couple weekends ago, my little family and I made a trip to Pismo Beach. For most of Bakersfield, this has always been the go-to vacation spot. I have so many childhood memories there and the food cravings were hitting me hard. After living in Orange County for four years, we never saw a reason to make the trip to Pismo but since we are back in Bakersfield, I kept having the urge to go! I'm so glad we finally did!

Our first stop was Splash Café. Home of the world famous clam chowder bowl. This was the main thing I had been craving. We have tried to find another clam chowder bowl down south that compared to Splash but I'm telling ya, there is nothing like it! After dinner, we made a little pit stop at a candy shop to get a chocolate covered strawberry and caramel apple. We took a little stroll into all the shops and then down to the beach. It was super windy that day but Boston would have stayed out in that sand for forever. Later that evening, I of course had to stop and get a bubble gum ice cream cone from The Scoop. SO good!

The next day we had planned on going for a bike ride in one of those big four-wheel family bikes but we woke up to rain so we had to change our plans. We stopped to get the yummiest cinnamon roll from Old West Cinnamon Rolls and then made our way to Morro Bay to feed the seals. There is a little aquarium there with all types of sea creatures and they have a few seals that you can throw fish to. It's super fun and exciting for little ones!

It was a short trip but I got to satisfy all my cravings and it was a fun little getaway! Below, I listed some Day at the Beach essentials.
