When To Decorate For Fall

In my opinion, the best time to decorate for fall is mid to end of September, or at least start brainstorming your ideas and getting ready! This is when the weather starts cooling down, and it really starts to feel like fall. Starting a little early gives you some more time to enjoy your decorations longer, ya know?!

I want to give a HUGE thank you to Emalee from The Porch Decor!! We travel so much, and she just gets my style, so I trust her to get my front porch always looking perfect!

How To Decorate Front Steps For Fall

Step 1

Plan out the color scheme you’d like to use for your front steps! Do you want more bright colors like the typical pumpkins? Or do you like more neutrals with the white and blue pumpkins? Once you figure that out, you’re going to want to get multiple of each color and place them down your steps and even surrounding the front door. Then throw some fall flowers in to break up all those pumpkins!

Step 2

You definitely need to add a wreath(or 2) to match the vibe of the rest of your decor. Hang it on your door with a rustic burlap ribbon or go for a simple metal hook for a clean look. Then, find a cute doormat with sayings like “Hey Pumpkin” or something that gives off major fall energy!

Step 3

For Halloween, choose a life-sized or mini skeleton and place it on your porch bench or steps. Have it holding a pumpkin or resting among other decor for a fun, playful look. You can even position it in a funny pose to bring smiles to anyone who passes by. Once Halloween is over, simply tuck it away, still leaving your kozy fall decor intact!

Front Step Decorating Ideas For Fall

Idea 1

If you have a bench or a chair on your front porch, drape a plaid blanket over the side of it. It’ll give it the perfect cozy touch! Adding a cute wooden sign or a couple of seasonal pillows will pull the whole vibe together perfectly! If you have some extra space, you can place a few more pumpkins by the legs of the bench to keep it understated but cute!

Idea 2

Adding small, dainty fairy lights throughout the pumpkins will make it SO KUTE! They’ll also give the pumpkins a nice, warm, and kozy feel at night! If you have a railing in front of your house, you can use the lights around that as well. This setup feels so welcoming. The soft lights and warm colors will make your home the kutest on the block!
